Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data the Cocles Steak House website collects, what we use it for, and how you can see it, correct it or ask us to delete it, under Costa Rica's Law 8968 on the Protection of Individuals with regard to the Processing of their Personal Data and its regulations. You don't have to give us any data to use the site: we only ask for it when you book a table or send an order.

What we collect and why

• Bookings (once available online). Your name, email, phone, the date and time, the number of guests and any note you leave. We use them only to handle your booking: confirm it, let you know about a change and welcome you. If your note mentions an allergy or a health condition, we use it only to prepare your table and your food; you don't have to tell us. Booking details are stored by Slotly, the booking system the restaurant uses.
• WhatsApp orders. When you send a pickup order, the message goes from your own WhatsApp with what you chose. We use it to prepare your order and reply to you. WhatsApp is a Meta service with its own privacy policy.
• Table orders (once available online). If the restaurant gives you a table code, the site stores a technical cookie with that session while your visit lasts, so your order reaches the right table. It expires on its own.
• “My order”. What you note down on the menu is stored only on your phone or computer; it doesn't reach us until you send it.
• Technical data. Like any website, the server receives the IP address and browser type of each visit. We use them only to run the site and protect it from abuse (for example, limiting repeated attempts), and not to identify you.

Cookies and third-party services

The site uses no advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other sites. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate and without cookies. It only uses the table cookie and your browser's storage for “My order” and to avoid replaying the opening animation. The location map is from Google Maps and only loads when you ask for it by tapping it; Google may use its own cookies under its privacy policy. The Google Maps, Waze, WhatsApp and social media buttons take you to those services, which have their own rules.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your data, and we don't use it to send you advertising. It is handled only by the providers that run the site and bookings (website hosting and Slotly), on the restaurant's behalf and for the purposes in this notice. Some of these services store data on servers outside Costa Rica. We would also hand it to an authority that requests it under the law.

How long we keep it

We keep booking and order details for as long as needed to handle them and to meet the restaurant's legal and accounting obligations. After that they are deleted or anonymized.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it or stop using it. Write to us or call us at +506 6235 4538 with your name and what you need; we will reply within the legal deadlines. If you are not satisfied, you can contact Costa Rica's data protection agency (Prodhab).

Minors

Bookings and orders are made by an adult. If a minor gave us data without their parents' permission, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle data, we update this notice and its effective date.
